My Educational Philosophy

The purposes of early childhood education are to help the child learn how to be

social, vocal, and solve problems. Being a teacher is a great role to play in a child's life.Childhood education serves to help the children develop properly with the right

tools and knowledge to get the from one stage to the next, to the next and so on. We develop ways of teaching  that work for them and cater to the needs of all the

children. We as teachers adopt the theories of past educational philosophers in order tocreate better learning environments for our students. Children learn best when taught under certain conditions and in certain ways Some of these ways are learning through social interaction. Some children learn best when they are with other children and see each other do things and learn from each other. Some children learn better by doing activities based upon what they are learning, being hands on. An example of this is the Joint Productive Activity. The children were directed to collect stones and organize them together. The children were directed on what to do and collaborated together to put on a mini show. Doing things like this during the day and taking time out of the lessons makes it fun for the children to learn so they aren't stuck in their chairs for most of the day.

The curriculum of any classroom should include certain basics. These basics include being creative, having fun. The children should be able to be involved in their classroom and with each other. The teachers should provide the children with activities both inside and outside the classroom. Teachers and children should collaborate with each other so the teacher can have a better understanding of how his/her students learn. Children learn best in an environment where they feel most comfortable. The child will learn better if he/she feels they can be open with the teacher and express their creativity or how they feel.

All young children have certain needs that must be met if they are to grow and learn at their best. Such needs include respect,a sense of trust, freedom of expression in the classroom, collaboration. Respect is very important for children to learn and have in a classroom. The child must know that in order to learn and grow respect needs to be established. Both the child and teacher must show respect. Some teachers have a mentality of not having to show the childrespect because they are so little, and that the child needs to show respect to the teacher at all times. A child must be able to feel that they matter and must be given attention and not feel left out. Creativity is a major basic need. Children need to be able to express themselves whether it’s through art, writing, dance. Children need to have that opportunity to take a break from stressful work and leave their chairs and be creative. Another basic need is trust. Teachers need to establish a sense of trust for the children in order to get them to open up and feel comfortable in their classroom environment. An important basic need for child development is social interaction.Educational philosopher Lev Vygotsky believed that in order for a child to move on to their next stages following their earliest stage, they must know how to interact with one another.

A teacher should have certain qualities and behave in certain ways. Qualities I think are important for teaching are, creativity, passion, motivation. In order to be a good teacher you must have creativity. Children don’t want to be glued to their chairs all day long. As a teacher you want your students to have fun while learning. Create lesson plans with fun activities for the students to do. Take time out of the busy school day to give the students a bit of a refresher. As a teacher you need to have passion for your job. You don’t want to walk in everyday to your classroom with a mean expression because you hate what you do. You want to wake up everyda knowing that you are going to help your students become better ones, and better people all around. Lastly, you must have motivation. Your motivational teacher should be to get your students ready for their next stage in their life and help them get there. I want to strive to be the teacher that is passionate about my job and to have motivation everyday I wake up to go into work ready to help my students.

My writing falls under the Curriculum,Instruction and Professionalism category of ACEI Educational standards. These categories state how a teacher should act, what  they can do to help their students, and what methods to use.
