Upon successful completion of the Theatre Arts degree program requirements, graduates will be able to:
- identify and define significant theatrical techniques, terms and theories that are centerpieces of theatrical performance and production (Techniques, Terminology & Theories).
- differentiate between the various theatrical disciplines and production roles, while applying discipline-specific knowledge and techniques through the creation of theatrical productions (Theatrical Practice).
- know the greater theatrical timeline, from the Ancients to the Present, including the evaluation of current aesthetics, expectations, standards and trends within the 21st century theatrical industry (Theatrical Trends).
- read, discuss and analyze a varied catalog of plays and musicals, written by a diverse representation of playwrights, including (but not limited to) seminal pieces of the theatrical canon, as well as noteworthy contemporary works of the 21st century (Dramatic Literature).
- assess theatre as a civically-engaged, collaborative art form through co-curricular learning experiences (Community Engagement).
- employ problem-solving skills and creative thinking skills through engagement in the collaborative theatrical process and the creation of artistic work (Diagnostic & Creative Thinking Skills).
- apply analytical skills through the critical reading of dramatic literature, the dissection of theatrical concepts and the critical examination of live theatrical productions (Analytical Reading & Writing).
