Title: Halloween Fun

 

Grade: 3rd  (Ages 9-10)

 

Time Allotted for Lesson: 30 minutes

                                             This lesson will be completed in one session.

 

Instructional Objectives:   

  1. To encourage students to have fun while learning.
  2. To help students express their creativity.
  3. To help motivate students in their learning.

Vocabulary: 

  1. abandoned – (adj.) forsaken or deserted.
  2. jack-o-lantern – (n.) a hollowed pumpkin with openings cut to represent human eyes, nose, and mouth; in which a candle or other light may be placed, traditionally made for display at Halloween.
  3. swarm – (n.) a great number of things or persons, especially in motion.

 

Materials:                               

  1. Worksheets
  2. Crayons
  3. Pencil/Pen
  4. Markers

Motivation: I will encourage the child to help spark their creativity.

 

Questions:

  1. What do you think the main theme we are working on today?
  2. What do you like or dislike about this activity?
  3. What do you feel about these worksheets?

Procedure:                              

  1. Greet child.
  2. Give the worksheets to the child.
  3. Have him/her write their name on it.
  4. Ask the student to work on the sheets.
  5. I will the child for feedback after they finish the sheets.
  6. Have the child return to their normal classroom setting.

Student Evaluation: Evaluate the student’s progress.

  1. How did you like the activity?
  2. Which part of the activity was your favorite?
  3. What would you have wanted me to do differently?

Extension Activities: Using the worksheets, have them create their own crossword puzzle.
