Log # 6(Summary Evaluation)

Using the information you have recorded in your precious logs respond to the following: What have you learned about this child? Did your initial impressions of the child change after this study? If so, how? If not, what remained consistent with your initial impressions?what would you like to see happens for this child in your class? How would you help it to happen if you were the teacher?

Since doing my student teaching at P.S 215. Working with first graders in room 412. I started to observe my study child who name is Anastasia. Anastasia is a five year old girl who is very smart but have trouble staying focus. Since my first day working I started to see how the first grade teacher Mrs. Marchese had a good understanding and communicate very well with her students.

While seeing how Mrs. Marchese operate her classroom, I started to observe how Anastasia completes her work. In the beginning I saw how Anastasia talked to her friends at her table and tends to take a long time to start her work. Anastasia was a girl who sits at her table and would sometimes copy her other classmates work so that she would finish and be able to talk to her friends.
Not only did Anastasia rushed her work, she would try finishing her friends work for them by giving them the answer regardless if they were right or wrong answers, So that they would be finish and done with that lesson and talk to further instructions. Throughout the months of working in room 412 the teacher Mrs. Marchese has moved Anastasia seat away from her friends numbers of times.
Instead she finds her way back to friends to communicate instead of doing her work. Anastasia got really upset because the teacher Mrs. Marchese changed Anastasia seat for the last time and now she is focusing more on her academics. Instead of her fooling around and talking, she is now showing more entrance in making sure her work is done right. If she needs help now with her work she would as the teacher instead of a classmate so that she understands it more better then her classmate doing it for her.
In the beginning of doing my observation of Anastasia my impressions has changed for my study child. I thought I would had problems or get her to stay focus on her academics but she changed for the better. I figured when she wasn't focusing on her academics that maybe she had trouble understanding the work and was to afraid to ask for help. Now that her seat is moved she is more focus and completes her work herself by re reading the direction and rechecking her work.
Anastasia is very smart girl, but she can get very distracted by her friends and wont complete her work. I would like to see my study child Anastasia to continue ti complete her workherself and continue to ask questions if she need help. However if she was in my class i would stay on top of her to make sure shes has a clear understanding of the materials and if she needs help to not be afraid to ask for the help.
